February was a full month of planning and work for Student Council members. Our Men Who Make a Difference Breakfast was attended by over 100 men. Thanks to Basha's for their 23 dozen hot donut preparation. Special thanks to Ann Rosati, Kelly Colasuenno, Ed Stotler, and Sean Wheeler for helping us make it happen.

The Pennies for Patients Leukemia & Lymphoma Fund-Raiser totaled $1,123.62 in coins and bills. 2nd grade contributions were the highest followed by 3rd grade and 4th grade. Thank you to all who climbed under couches and front seats to donate to this worthy cause. In addition, your contribution allowed us to win a Wal-Mart gift certificate for our school.

To celebrate Read Across America and Dr. Seuss's birthday on March 2nd, Student Council will be leading a Mardi-Seuss Parade made up of K-5 students who will be depicting their favorite book with wagon floats and costumes. Please come join the fun on Dr. Seuss Tuesday.

Maricopa Elementary T-shirts will be delivered before the end of the quarter. The T-shirts are now at the printer and distribution is scheduled for the end of February. Spirit Week planning for March 1-5 of Conference Week is on the Agenda.

Mr. Metcalf is interviewing for the Maricopa Elementary Store. The Grand Opening will be Wednesday, February 24th. All school supply items will be sold in the courtyard Wednesday mornings before school.

Be sure to check in to see what's coming up for the final quarter of 2010!

Maricopa Elementary Honors - Men Who Make a Difference

On February 12th we held a breakfast honoring the men in our lives who make a difference. Everyone had a fantastic time! In Maricopa wrote an article about the event, and we have this great video too!
